ATTENTION ATHLETES IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING IFBB SUSPENSION POLICY

The Canadian Body Building Federation (CBBF) being the recognized body of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) in Canada will not sanction or cause for sanction any amateur athlete competing in another amateur competition.

We actively encourage Canadian athletes to compete with any organization of their choosing and be welcomed unto our affiliated event stages at anytime providing they remain an amateur.

CBBF Team

Winston Roberts was a significant staple in the pages of bodybuilding history. Winston began his bodybuilding journey as many do, as a competitor. With accomplishments such as winning the Mr. Canada title twice over and participating in Mr. Universe posedowns in the IFBB amateur ranks, his commitment to bodybuilding while in its infancy should speak for itself. However, Winston was heavily involved as a pioneer of bodybuilding, working alongside many of the golden-era greats. Ben Weider, recognizing Winston’s ambition, delegated the task of writing the constitution of the IFBB. Winston took that assignment one step further and wrote the initial IFBB rulebook for judging, which is still used today. He was elected General Secretary of the IFBB in 1972 used his IFBB credentials to begin the Canadian Federation of Bodybuilding (now known as the CBBF). He is also responsible for two extremely significant moments in bodybuilding history; one which revolutionized bodybuilding competition was the suggestion to open prejudging to the public, the other Winston used bodybuilding to help end an era of oppression and segregation in South Africa by allowing the president of the country to host 1975 Mr. Olympia and World Championships (Mr. Universe) competitions only if the audience was denied its common practice of limiting seating sections according to race. This proposal was accepted and was documented in the 1975 bodybuilding hit Pumping Iron, which catapulted bodybuilding’s status into the mainstream.

Winston was born on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent, relocated to Montreal, and ultimately ended up in Whitby, Ontario. It is with the sadness that we share news of his passing.

Rest In Peace Winston Roberts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Roberts family and friends.

Attention all Ontario Athletes

Attention all Ontario Athletes

We recognize that this is an important task as we want guarantee representation for all Canadian Athletes in every province. 2018 National Events

Attention Athletes:

We have recently finalized the dates of the 2018 National Events and wanted to advise  you of the changes immediately to ensure you all have plenty of time to schedule your prep accordingly.

We have decided for 2018 we will combine the two National Events, Bodybuilding Bikini and Figure Fitness into one weekend event.  We are very excited to announce this as we believe it will make for a fun filled weekend event!

There were several factors taken into consideration when making this decision.   With anticipated lower participation at both the Provincial and National levels we were looking at cost reduction for both.  Having one event eliminates a second travel expense for the athletes and as well as production costs for the events themselves allowing us to still provide funding to our athletes at the Provincial and National levels.  As I said this is for 2018 only as we come together to “weather the storm” we must pool our resources to ensure we have a successful 2018.

The dates for both events are:

International Events Qualifier May 19th, 2018 Laval Quebec

Canadian National Bodybuilding Bikini, Figure Fitness and Physique Championships July 14, 2018

Should we have to add an additional day to the weekend event we will advise will in advance however it will depend on the number athletes.  We are very excited to see you all on the Provincial and National stages in 2018 !

We will also be aligning our classes to the IFBB Amateur league and adding the Men’s muscular physique and bikini wellness division.  With addition of these classes we will be telling our athletes that we understand the different body types and we have classes for all our athletes.

The following is the list of classes for the 2018 National Events:

Bodybuilding
Classic Bodybuilding
Mixed Pairs Men’s
Physique Men’s
Muscular Physique
Women’s Physique
Women’s Figure (Body Fitness)
Women’s Bikini (Bikini Fitness)
Women’s Wellness Fitness

To Qualify for these events you must place top within your Provincial Event , top 5 from 2016 National Events or top 10 from 2017 National Events.  If you are unsure of your qualification please contact the CBBF.
