[ printable version ]
Posted: Friday, July 07, 2006
Those competitors wishing to compete at the 2006 CBBF National World Qualifier, for an opportunity to be chosen for a position on the 2006 CBBF Team Canada, are advised they may be tested for performance enhancing drugs. This service will be provided by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, CCES, for the collection of samples, with the IOC laboratory responsible for the testing of samples.
If a positive test result is returned the athlete may appeal the decision at a cost provided by the athlete in question. Upon finalization of the appeal process, the athlete may be suspended for a period of two-years from the testing date. If upon returning to the sport a second positive test result would mean a lifetime suspension, from competing in any sport under the umbrella of the CCES.
For any negative results or successful appeal process no action will be taken.
For any questions athletes would have in relation to collection or testing it is suggested one view the CCES website, www.cces.ca or call 1-800-672-7775.
